Terms

Play

• Murder Mixer is free to play.
• There is no account and no guest sign-in.
• A host starts the game on a phone and shares a link. Friends join from that link, or by typing the spoken word, and each friend types a nickname. If the host has not typed a name, the start stores Host when that name is free. If another seat already has it, the night does not start until the host types a name.
• The host page on this website is a checklist. The join page on this website covers a role on that phone. Neither page opens a live room. The live game is at play.murdermixer.com.

Rooms

Rooms are temporary. A room is created with these limits:

• An unstarted lobby expires 2 hours after it is created.
• A started night expires 12 hours after it starts. If that moment arrives during a beat, a vote, the sealed envelope, or the opening, the night is extended once, by 2 hours.
• 10 minutes after the envelope is revealed, the night ends. The room is then kept for 60 minutes.
• When a room expires, the game deletes that room's stored night. If storage writes are already failing, that delete can be skipped.
• A spoken code stays reserved for 24 hours after the lobby ends, so the same word is not given to a new room right away.
• A start retried within 10 minutes opens the same room. The directory keeps a hash of the host's seat secret for that window, not the secret.

The phone

The seat secret and the spoken room code stay in that browser's local storage. The host record also keeps the join link, which includes the link key. If the browser does not keep the secret, that phone cannot return to the seat.

Money

There is no checkout on this website or in the game. The catalog leaves price and purchase unset. Payments are not implemented. This site does not publish a price. Murder Mixer does not sell player information.

What this page does not promise

• It does not promise that a room will open, that a night will finish, or that a phone will keep its seat.
• It does not add an age rule. The game code does not state one.
